October 22, 2011 Petite Guest Harvest Participation Day
Annual Harvest Festival
Note: We have moved just the Petite Guest Harvest to Saturday, October 22 because of weather conditions leading to October 15, 2011. Come join us in this harvest experience! If you are a ticket holder you will be notified by email. For any queries, you can email info@PetiteRiviereVineyards.ca — posted October 17, 2011.
Petite Guest Harvest Participation Day
Petite Harvest Festival is adventure-tourism at its best.
Participate in a vineyard harvest day; be part of a team that makes a wine. This is no grape stomp. This is a real harvest where a specific amount of key grape varieties are targeted to develop a unique wine.
The grapes will be crushed and prepared for fermentation in the late afternoon-early evening. Under the watchful eye of Petite’s Vineyard Manager, individuals will help harvest grapes, sort them and prepare them for crushing.
In the later part of the day, the cellar will be opened—a wine crushing performed and a wine prepared for fermentation.
Harvest starts at 9:30 AM and finishes at 3 PM, in time for a music jam which begins at 3 PM. Lunch and refreshments will be available.
No experience is necessary as we will provide all the equipment and training. Dress for field work!
A maximum of 30 people can register for the physical vineyards harvest experience.
It will be a charity event with the beneficiary being the development of a new outdoor band stand outside the Petite Riviere Fire Hall. There will be a $20/person fee for this day to help pay for a fabulous lunch, and, half will be contributed to the charity. This is an Official Nova Scotia Fall Wine Festival Event. Cheers!
Note: The Music Jam was held as scheduled last Saturday. October 15. — posted October 17, 2011.
The main charity event activity will be a music jam beginning at 3 PM and there is a $20/person charge. The musicians will be some of the best local talent, and, there is a lot of local talent in our area. The event will be anchored by Acres & Acres.
We will do a barbeque, and, have drinks and refreshments available.
RAIN DAY: Sunday, October 16th—please note that grapes are only harvested in fine weather.
Grape Fun Harvest this Fall
Petite Riviere invites you to participate in one of our harvest days. Last year we had so much fun inviting people to come out and help us harvest, we thought we would bring it up a notch in 2011.
In addition to our annual Harvest Festival on Saturday, October 15th, there will be many other grape harvest dates.
We launched a website service enabling you to register to participate in harvest. We will then send the people who register an email 24 to 48 hours prior to each harvest day. We hope this approach will help give everyone who wishes to participate a good chance of making one of our harvest days.
We harvest only in fine weather, so when you are outdoors on a beautiful October day, it is just about perfect.
